As we near the cooler months with increased chances of rain, making sure your building can withstand potential downpour is always a good idea.
We’ve prepared a checklist to help:
- Check the furnace to make sure it’s working; perform any maintenance as needed
- Verify the integrity of weather stripping on windows, doors, skylights, etc.
- Make sure gutters and drains are clear of debris inside and out, as well as balconies
- Have the roof checked for possible leaks, soft spots or defective flashing and make needed repairs
- Inspect outdoor walkways for incorrect sloping and drainage issues
- Ensure outdoor stairs have secure railings, proper drainage and are not of a slippery material
- If the fireplace(s) have been used regularly over the last two years, but haven’t been cleaned or inspected, you should have them cleaned and inspected before their next use
